Scott founded Heart To Beat after recognizing a gap in how prepared most organizations were for emergencies. A former EMS Captain in a large Baltimore-area fire department, he oversaw nearly 55 EMS personnel and spent his career responding to critically ill and injured people — experience that shapes every program the company builds.
Today he leads Heart To Beat's team of seasoned law enforcement and emergency services professionals, partnering with organizations from 25 to 25,000 employees nationwide. Scott is a graduate of Loyola Blakefield and Loyola University Maryland, and holds instructor and provider certifications from the Maryland Fire Rescue Institute, the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, ASHI, and the American College of Surgeons. He remains an active volunteer firefighter and serves on the Board of Directors at Northwest Hospital.
Dr. McCoy provides the clinical oversight behind Heart To Beat's training and protocols. He is an attending physician in the emergency department of one of Maryland's largest hospital systems and has practiced full-time emergency medicine since 2010.
He is board-certified in family medicine and sports medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, and in emergency medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialists, with additional certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Dr. McCoy has also served as a director of sports medicine and as medical director for several private organizations.

Dave brings more than 15 years of healthcare leadership, including a Vice President role at Independence Blue Cross, where he oversaw care management, health advocacy, and specialty products across sales, product, operations, and marketing. At Heart To Beat he helps guide strategy, growth, and operations. He earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mike brings deep experience in private equity, M&A, and operational leadership. He was previously a Vice President at Inverness Graham, where he led the firm's Value Creation team, and earlier worked in Deloitte's Strategy & Transactions practice. At Heart To Beat he helps shape strategy, partnerships, and long-term growth. He earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Business Administration from Fordham University.
John focuses on operations, growth strategy, and investment initiatives. He is a Principal at R Capital, supporting growth and operational strategy across a portfolio of small businesses and real estate projects, and previously spent nearly a decade in management consulting with ZS and The Dedham Group. He earned his MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Biology from Brown University.
